These photos were taken on the way to one of the Dick Bently aerobatic
competitions at Headcorn in G-BOCL, the Slingsby T67c I did my PPL in. It was
around this point in time that I realised that an SLR just isn't the best tool
for taking pictures during aerobatics - the Nikon I was using didn't like
releasing the shutter under negative G loading so had a hard time getting
the timing right.
Headcorn is a wonderful airfield - after the competition a few of the really
experienced pilots like Diana Britten & Richard Pickin went up and showed
us how it should be done. We have a long way to go!
There is one photo missing from this set, at the end
of the day the Nikon decided to refocus as a Spitfire did a flyby down the
runway. Bugger.
